EYE TALISMAN, SYMBOL OF PROTECTION

The blue eye is a protection against "matiasma" (more commonly called the evil eye). We owe this symbol to the Greeks, who were very superstitious and protected themselves from the evil eye by representing this distinctive sign everywhere: on the walls of houses near the entrance, worn as jewelry, on paintings or even hung on the rearview mirror of their car.

Called "mati" or "mataki", the main purpose of the eye is not only aesthetic and decorative. It is there above all to protect and prevent the effects of the evil eye. It is often represented by a set of circles: dark blue for the outside, white or light blue in the middle, then black (like the pupil) in the very center. The color is not insignificant since blue symbolizes water, life and growth.

Widespread in the Mediterranean basin, the belief in the evil eye has been rooted since the time of Ancient Greece. In fact , the look of a jealous person brings bad luck to the one who is targeted: he then has the "evil eye" and becomes " matiasmenoss ". To avoid these problems, " mati " is a simple and effective remedy .
